Grey reduction-fired floor tiles in Lienden

For this atmospheric project in Lienden, we supplied several batches of antique floor tiles for different rooms in the home. One room uses authentic grey reduction-fired Dutch floor tiles, also known as reduction-fired estrikken. Their calm blue-grey colour variations create a timeless foundation that works effortlessly in both rural and modern interiors.

Grey reduction-fired floor tiles owe their distinctive colour to a traditional firing process in which the oxygen supply is restricted. This produces unique shades ranging from blue-grey to anthracite and gives every tile its own character. Together with natural wear, subtle colour differences and centuries-old patina, the result is a floor that modern tiles can scarcely replicate.

Antique reduction-fired floor tiles have been used for generations in farmhouses, listed buildings, country homes and characterful renovation projects. Their neutral colour makes them easy to combine with many interior styles while preserving an authentic appearance. Reuse also gives these historic floor tiles a second life, bringing character and sustainability together beautifully.

We are proud to have supplied this beautiful batch of antique grey reduction-fired floor tiles for the project in Lienden. The finished result shows how authentic floor tiles create an atmospheric and timeless floor in which history, craftsmanship and quality meet naturally.
