Reduction-fired floor tiles in Wervershoof

In Wervershoof, where we also supplied Frisian yellow bricks and glazed floor tiles, we delivered two batches of grey reduction-fired floor tiles. Their neutral colour works beautifully with modern interiors and offers great versatility. Yet even these grey tiles come alive through natural colour variations, making them a firm favourite among antique floor tiles. Photos 1 to 3 show floor 1, photo 4 is literally and figuratively the dividing line, and photos 5 to 7 show floor 2.

For this atmospheric project, the two batches were carefully combined to create a lively floor with natural variations in colour and texture. The result is an authentic tiled floor that perfectly complements the home’s rural appearance.

Grey reduction-fired floor tiles are distinguished by their characteristic blue-grey and anthracite shades. Their colour develops during the traditional firing process, when the oxygen supply is restricted. This gives every tile a unique, aged appearance that modern floor tiles can scarcely replicate.

Natural colour differences and centuries-old patina give antique reduction-fired floor tiles a calm but characterful presence in both rural and classical interiors. These reclaimed floor tiles are also a sustainable choice, giving high-quality historic materials a second life.

We are proud to have supplied the antique grey reduction-fired floor tiles for this beautiful project in Wervershoof. The finished result shows how authentic floor tiles create a timeless floor in which character, atmosphere and craftsmanship meet naturally.
