Acquired through a special route into our collection of tile tableaux; A special and unique antique tile tableau made as a tribute to the founding of 'Amstel beer'. Amstel beer was founded in 1871 by the van Marwijk Kooy family (which is depicted in the painting), and the tableau itself dates from 1904.

The tableau was obtained from the grandchild of the original owner, whose grandfather was friends with the Kooy family and received the tableau from them as a gift. It was seen by them as a fantastic gift, and treated as such. The tableau has hung in the same frame for at least 100 years and is reinforced at the back with a wooden frame and a cloth, which also shows how old the artwork is.

Because it has always been handled so carefully, it is in excellent condition with not a single damage! All the tiles are still completely intact and look phenomenal for their age.

The tiles are 15.3x15.3cm and the total size is approximately 1.00x1.10.
