For this home in Opeinde, the client chose a floor made from authentic Dutch antique terracotta tiles in a mixed size of approximately 21 x 21 cm. The warm reddish-brown tones, subtle colour differences and patina formed over decades immediately give the home a characterful and timeless appearance.

These original tiles come from historic Dutch farms, homes and monumental buildings. After careful removal, the tiles are cleaned, checked and selected so they can be reused without losing their authentic appearance.

The mixed size and natural variation in colour and structure create a lively floor in which no tile is exactly the same. This results in an authentic whole that fits country homes, monument restorations and modern new-builds where natural materials are central.

Old Dutch tiles are also very durable. They have already proved themselves over the years and, when laid professionally, are suitable for intensive daily use. They can also be combined very well with underfloor heating.
