Reclaimed floor tiles in Noord-Holland

Reclaimed floor tiles for projects in Noord-Holland

Antique floor tiles are about more than colour. Size, thickness, edge shape, wear, sorting and available quantity also determine whether a batch suits a particular room.

In townhouses and renovation projects especially, a reclaimed floor can add considerable character without the rest of the interior having to imitate a historical style.

Which reclaimed floors will you find at Van Dillen?

Reclaimed floor tiles and farmhouse tiles

Our reclaimed floor tiles include batches in different colours, sizes and finishes. Red, grey and mixed-shade tiles are used in kitchens, living rooms, hallways, farmhouses and new builds where an aged floor is wanted. The Dutch term boerenplavuizen, or farmhouse tiles, is often used for this type of distinctive old tiled floor.

Traditional Dutch terracotta tiles: estrikken

Traditional Dutch terracotta floor tiles, known as estrikken, are another important group. They come in various colours and finishes, ranging from understated to striking. Unsure which type you need? Read about the difference between plavuizen and estrikken.

French and terracotta floor tiles

For a warmer, Mediterranean appearance, consider French floor tiles and terracotta floor tiles. Reclaimed terracotta tiles vary between batches in shade, patina and surface. This natural variation plays a large part in the finished appearance.

Choosing by colour, size and available quantity

Tile size strongly affects the appearance. Smaller reclaimed tiles can look refined, while larger floor tiles create a calmer effect. Joint width and laying pattern also change the finished look.

Always check how many m² are available from the same batch. Allow for cutting waste and a small reserve as well. Where possible, our product pages state the size, price and current stock, helping you quickly assess whether a batch is large enough.

Combining reclaimed floor tiles with underfloor heating

Reclaimed floor tiles can work well with underfloor heating. The floor build-up, substrate and installation must, of course, be carried out appropriately. When choosing materials, it is especially important to allow for differences in thickness and the desired finish of the aged surface.
