Frisian yellow bricks on Texel

New-build home with old yellow bricks on Texel

For this special new-build project on Texel, we supplied a beautiful batch of antique Frisian yellow bricks. The Wadden Islands are known for their distinctive architecture and tranquil appearance. This is why authentic facing bricks that fit the traditional streetscape are regularly chosen for new construction.

This project was particularly special to us. Shortly after Van Dillen Antieke Bouwmaterialen was founded, one of our first major customers ordered a substantial batch of Frisian yellow bricks for this house. The result is a characterful new home with an authentic appearance, bringing reclaimed building materials and modern comfort together beautifully.

Frisian yellow bricks are characterised by their warm yellow tones, subtle traces of lime and handcrafted appearance. Natural variations in colour and texture give every facade a lively character, while making the house look as though it has been part of its surroundings for generations. These qualities make old Frisian yellow bricks particularly popular for high-quality new builds, restoration projects and country homes.

We are proud to have supplied the reclaimed masonry bricks, cleaned of old mortar, for this beautiful project on Texel. The finished home shows how historic facing bricks give new construction a timeless appearance that suits the distinctive character of the Wadden Islands.

Some projects have a location that is just a little more special than other deliveries. The Wadden Islands are known for their calm, beautiful, and characterful appearance, and on many of the islands it is appreciated when new-build homes are made with old bricks.

One of our first major customers, a friendly man from the Randstad, came to us shortly after the company was founded. We supplied a fairly large batch of Frisian yellow bricks to Texel. The result is striking and special to us as well: this is the first complete house built with our bricks.
