Reclaimed floor tiles at Café De Amer in Amen

For the renovation of Café De Amer cultural venue in Amen, we supplied a beautiful batch of antique floor tiles. The new floor uses an authentic chequerboard pattern made from antique grey reduction-fired floor tiles and red Dutch terracotta floor tiles measuring 20 x 20 cm. This characterful combination perfectly suits the café’s historic atmosphere and gives the room a warm, timeless appearance.

The tiles have an authentic ribbed underside and feature natural patina, subtle colour differences and an artisanal appearance. These qualities make antique floor tiles popular for hospitality venues, listed buildings, farmhouses and rural interiors. Alternating red terracotta with grey reduction-fired tiles creates a lively floor where every tile retains its own character.

Several other authentic building materials were used in the Café De Amer renovation. Historic materials and careful craftsmanship preserve the café’s character while preparing the rooms for the future. The chequerboard pattern forms a true focal point and reinforces the interior’s authentic appearance.

We are proud to have supplied the antique floor tiles for this special project in Amen. The finished result shows how historic floor tiles create an atmospheric interior where authenticity, sustainability and craftsmanship meet naturally.
